WEDNESDAY CLUB - Leonard Cohen - Famous Blue Raincoat

MIDWEEK CRISIS, you are feeling a little down, Come to WEDNESDAY CLUB we have got Leonard Cohen, he will cheer you up!

It was torn at the shoulder

  The Black Trench Coat

She wanted to spread her wings
(her thighs)
it was January, it was winter, it was cold
i was alone in my dungeon
the single bar heater gave little warmth
'Songs of Love and Hate' arrived today
it was on repeat
a bottle was on the table
two fingers of comfort were left
the words 'Jane came by with a lock of your hair'
stung, it stung in my grieving ears
the cigarette smoke froze in the cold
the bottle stood empty
the room slowed down
i needed a drink
i slipped on my 'Famous' Black Trenchcoat
i headed for the door, the night, the biting rain
searching for a Bar, searching for anywhere
wanting her

'did she ever go clear'

Superb post for a superb song. I have you to thank for getting me into Cohen. I love his solemn low voice. I didn't know the pain could make you so poetic. I'm definitely a member of the Wednesday club,

Sincerely S. Hunter

I remember this being played in the wee small hours, after a few drinks. Everyone goes quiet and is forced to listen. Fabulous song and wonderful poem, I'm seriously impressed! Great comment too ms Hunter.
