THURSDAY I'M IN LOVE! - Lo-Fidelity Allstars - 'On the Pier'/'Battleflag'

Thursday I'm in Love....a chance for me to share some of my favourite tracks.

Lo Fidelity Allstars - 'On the Pier' feat Bootsy Collins (2002)

I doubt this song is about Bootsy Collins' experience on a penny machine at Brighton Pier but with him you never know. What he does bring is buckets and spades full of soul in what is a laid back, sexy and hugely atmospheric tune. This song just reminds me of some good memories with my wife when we were first going out, strolls on the beach, walking the pier, getting lost in 'The Lanes' and gay bars, heady times.

Bootsy Collins, blending in nicely in Brighton

Lo Fidelity Allstars hailed from Brighton and were on Fatboy Slims Skint record label, they were known for their big beat style. 'Battleflag' is a track more associated with that style and is a huge favourite of mine, with beats and great vocals from Pigeonhed, with a somewhat more exciting video.

As you say, The Pier is very atmospheric and reminds me a little of Zero 7. The vocals went well also.
As for Battle Flag, I do like this version but I find the original far superior. I've loved Shawn Smith's voice since I first came across Brad (oo-err missus. Don't tell the wife) and am always on the lookout for anything new by him in his various guises.

I remember On The Pier used to remind me of a line from Encino Man! A nice track. I hadn't heard this version of Battleflag either but I like what it brings to Pigeonhed's vocals. The song of theirs I really loved was Tied to The Mast though. Does anyone else remember the advert with the robotic dog?

LS, like U with Public Enemy, I was unaware Pigeonhed was the original. Send me a copy pls.

Two tracks at the bottom Old Pa, click on them. If that doesn't work then, right click and 'save link as'. That should do it.

SFW - I didn't realise they had new material so kudos for that sir. I will enjoy no doubt. I'll never forget when I was salivating about Brad's song Revolution, I played it to you and you weren't nearly as impressed as I. Mentioning that the production (if I remember) wasn't all that. I was upset a tad !!
