What is it with Australia?  They get the sun, they've got the beaches and despite spiders, man eating crocodiles and very little ozone layer, they have got the talent.  This is the second week in a row that i've featured an antipodean (check out Sean O'Neills 'Vienna') and I have featured Matt Corby previously, but this is breathtaking.  Musically, he's the nearest to Jeff Buckley and this performance, taken live on a grand piano at Studios 301, Sydney, demonstrates his talent.  Mr Corby, I tip my cap to you sir.

It is finally time to let this cat of the bag. Sydney's Matt Corby is a former runner up of the Australian Idol (when he was 16), but before you let that tarnish your opinion (music snobbery is a terrible thing!), you really need to listen to this guy.  To pigeonhole him as just another singer-songwriter would be a huge disservice.  "Buckley-meets-wild beasts-meets-gospel-meets-soul" - the list goes on-and-on. He has released a number of E.P.s (through the excellent Communion Records) and back in Australia he's won 'Song of the Year' for the song 'Brother'. Surprisingly, he still hasn't released a debut album, but then again all the best things are worth waiting for....
