HOUDINI'S PUNCH

Red telephone boxes
smelt of piss
i never saw it comming
Houdini's Punch

my mind was numb

a marching zombie
owned by the night

the hail, the sleet

the maggot wind

the dreich

 Houdini's punch

garrotting my guts
 twisting, strangling
 tighter and tighter

the bile rising
i needed to vomit
i wanted to scream!
howl!

but nothing came out

i arrived
 at i don't know where

 or how i got there
i did 'nt care

i had lost the night
i had lost my love
