I was heavily into 'Songs from the Big Chair' with 'Head Over Heels' probably one of my favourites tunes of all time. I can probably remember coming in to school with this very song playing on my brick sized Walkman, before getting it confiscated by a teacher and/or a bully. Despite being a film about time travel and parallel universes, this is where the parallels end for me, as much to my wife's dismay, I'm more Brian 'get-out-and-sit-in-the-hall' than Jake Gyllenhaal. Never mind, I felt the song captured the era perfectly and the slow-mo camera work is a nice touch in what was a very memorable scene in a fantastic, if a little bizarre, film.
and I thought I had problems with Patrick Swayze! |

Tulis commentsGreat song, great scene, great film!
ReplyI love this film and, co-incidentally, this is my favourite scene. It's just so emotionally charged. I was never a fan of Tears For Fears but hearing 'Head Over Heels' on the soundtrack made me re-think my position. Works perfectly.
ReplyI have to admit I was a big Tears For Fears fan through their many reincarnations. I loved this song first time around and I'm glad that another generation get to hear it as well. The film was excellent, I do prefer the extended version though which explains the goings on a bit more. I started to watch the sequel (of sorts) which stars his little sister (same actress) as a young woman, but it was too slow and I gave up after about 30 minutes
ReplyClassic TFF...must watch that film again, I fell asleep when watching it...was looking forward to seeing that rabbit thing, I like rabbits, i used to have a rabbit, dennis killed it.
Replyit's half past 5 you can't possibly be drunk!! Too funny! Damn you Dennis!

ReplyBrilliant track, thanks for the memory boost :-)
ReplyLondon Scouser. Many reincarnations of TFF? Pray tell. Sequel to Donnie Darko?
ReplyPStar, thanks. The funny how time flies lyric at the end always gets me as I can remember first listening to this song some 20 years ago. Frightening!
