DYLAN COVERS # 132 John Martyn - Don't Think Twice/Tight Connection to My Heart

In Solid Air

JOHN MARTYN - Don't Think Twice it's Alright (1967)

Here are two covers by the late John Martyn,  probably most famously know for his brilliant 'Solid Air' album.  The first one is a take of Don't Think Twice, it's Alright and is taken from his first studio album 'London Conversation (1967)'.

The second cover is from the album 'Piece By Piece (1986). Tight Connection to My Heart' was included in early versions of the album as part of 4 extra tracks. It was also released as a 12 inch single.  Boy it sounds; so eighties'.

The passage of time hasn't been kind to 'Tight Connection'. 'Don't Think Twice' is very nice though.

'Don't Think Twice' is nice but very true to the original; I'm sure JM wouldn't have approached it like that a few years later. Have to agree with The Swede about 'Tight Connection' - pretty ghastly. It's always puzzled me how Martyn embraced that hyper-80's production. Must have been something to do with being mates with Phil Collins!

"Don't Think Twice.." is lovely. The less said about "Tight Connection..." the better
