TUESDAY BLUES! Fionn Regan - List of Distractions

Fionn Regan - List of Distractrions (2011)

It's Tuesday which means it's time for a prescription of singer-songwriters....
I've been a fan of this Irish troubadour since his 2006 Mercury prize nominated debut, "The End of History", however this track features on his third & latest album "100 acres of sycamore".

In his latest "video" he plays & sings in Londons, Hampstead Heath Park, however the cameraman obviously gets a little bored and starts filming people over his shoulder - Nah, i'm kidding, it's supposed to be that way!  I particularly like the dumb-ass with the dumb bells, bloody attention seekers! Though saying that, it's obviously a nice place as if it was filmed in my old town park, he'd have kids drinking Stella, smackheads in the bushes and packs of Pit Bulls chewing his legs, which probably wouldn't have had the same effect
His style has elements of Neil Young, Dylan, Cohen & the late Bert Jansch, with all he draws an influence, but if you listen closely,  you can hear Fleet Foxes singer Robin Pecknold - although I should say that the Fleet Foxes singer sounds like him because Fionn released his material earlier!  If you haven't heard much of his material checkout his website and if you like, I think you might have a musical partner for life!

Nice. Not heard much by him but worth a follow-up, I think. Also sounds a bit like Ryan Adams at his most wistful.

I'm surprised how much music and melody can come out of just one man with his guitar. Extremely pleasant listening and I'm sure I'll like more. Best part was when he smiled at the end, thought he was a bit stiff!

It is like a nice walk in the park, those two guys with the dumb bells and their shirts off were a bit distracting...oh hang on maybe they were all on Fionn's list. SH, is right though I'm glad he smiled at the end, he was in danger of overplaying his rock n roll card!
