GRATEFUL DEAD - When I Paint My Masterpiece (1988)
There is so much Dylan Covers available, literally hundreds and hundreds by the Dead and individual their members, it is so difficult to select anything. I love the Dead covering Dylan so I hope you like these two different versions.

Tulis commentsApologies for this but weren't The Grateful Dead the most overrated group ever? One of those I just *don't* get. Time to compile a list. These covers are functional.
ReplySB - 'these covers are functional' Je ne comprends pas.
ReplySome of the Deads versions of IAON Baby Blue...is up there with my fav Dylan Covers. I am not their greatest fan but I certainly like their Dylan Covers.
Old Pa: It's just me - I just don't get 'em. By 'functional' I mean they just do their job well enough for *my* ears. I will happily bow down to those who love the Dead and all who sail with her.
ReplySB - I am no DH by any means. but check out for example their cover of Baby Blue on Masked and Anon...it is pretty special. I also love JG guitar sound. But as you say music is in the ear of the guy holding the Special Brew!
ReplySB - probably better version is from Post Cards from the Hanging...I am trying to sent to you as I drink!
ReplyOther than their debut LP and 'Workingman's Dead', I tend to agree with Singing Bear's assessment of the Grateful Dead, but I think all Dylan fans owe the band a genuine debt of gratitude for helping Bob reconnect with his own back catalogue during those 1987 rehearsals and the tour that followed - even if the resulting shows were awful and 'Dylan & the Dead' was one of the worst albums of all time.
