DYLAN COVERS # 163 Marmalade - I Shall Be Released/Mr Tambourine Man

EVERY BAND CAN BE REPLACED

MARMALADE - I Shall Be Released (1969)

Marmalade, one of Scotland's 'finests' were a 'pop' Band at their peak in the late sixties. They have the fame of being the first Scottish Band to reach Number one in the Pop Charts with their hideous cover of the Beatles's Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da in 1969.

To there credit they did a couple of decent covers of Dylan songs. Both the covers can be found on the album Fine Cuts: The Best of Marmalade (2011) .

Nothing wrong with Marmalade's take on pop. Of course, they DID murder a few songs but 'Cousin Norman' hinted at greatness. These are surprisingly OK.

I agree with Mr Bear. Surprisingly good.
