Crooklyn Dodgers - Crooklyn Dodgers

Hip Hop Classics y'all.....straight outta Surrey Heath!!

Crooklyn Dodgers - Crooklyn Dodgers (1994)

It was only after I saw the excellent A Tribe Called Quest biopic, 'Beats, Rhymes and Life', that prompted me to feature this absolute classic. The end credits show Dave (Plug Two) from De La Soul, sing this track's praises asking Q-Tip how he made such a 'filthy joint' and I'd have to agree with him. Being a Hip Hop fan and growing up during the so called 'Golden Age' of Hip Hop, this track was always one of my most revered, the beats, samples and rhymes are immaculate with the line on Angela Davis a particular favourite.

Crooklyn Dodgers, was probably the first Rap 'super group', consisting of Black Moon'sBuckshotMasta Ace and Special Ed but only made the one track with this line up specifically for Spike Lee's film, CrooklynMore importantly, it is with little surprise that this vintage track be produced by Q-Tip, showing that not only is he a talented MC but also a beat creator and with A Tribe Called Quest, one of the main reasons why they are most successful Hip Hop groups of all time.
