Do you like Singer/Songwriters, or do you have a unhealthy affection to the sadness, if so you may have a case of the Tuesday Blues! (but not today!)
Bahamas - Lost In The Light
Oh 2013! Why are you being so cruel! I'm sitting in my house, the heating is broke and we're just about to receive blast of cold air from the North Pole and it feels like it will be just like the day after tomorrow!
I discovered Bahamas over xmas and I'm still smitten. It is the solo project and stage name of Afie Jurvanen, who has worked with Feist as well as other musicians throughout Toronto, Canda. His album Barchords, which was released last year on Brushfire Records, evokes the chilled out, slinky, summery feel which is not unlike Brushfires main man Jack Johnson. Listen to it once and you'll be hooked, Listen to it twice and you'll be addicted and everyting will be irie!

Tulis commentsNew to me and have to agree it was better with repeated hearings, I am hooked!
ReplyMaybe it's just me but there this underlying New Orleans like funeral march ting going on here, with the rhythm and gospel vibe. I like, good build up to the song and you're right there's a nice little hook to it.
ReplyNice. Not hard of him before. On a side note - what's your feeling about the seemingly growing number of solo artists who take on names that make them sound like a band? what's that about? Bahamas? Sweet Baboo? White Buffalo? etc. etc. etc. What's wrong with Fred Smith or Tom Rush or Algernon P. Fortesque?
ReplyNote unfortunate spelling error.
ReplySB - i have forgiven you
ReplyI've come back to this a couple of times over the past couple of days. New to me and I like it.
ReplyThanks for the Comments friends. It's certainly one for the playlist :-)
ReplySB - I know what you mean, What is wrong with Afie Jurvanen??? hmmm
On first play I liked it. It was more upbeat than I expected, I guess it's a brighter shade of blue than some of your choices bone to watch though definitely
ReplyThis one lives up to the name, a very sunny chilled out feel. I liked it instantly, and might I add, Afie is pretty hot himself!
