DYLAN COVERS #84 Johnny Winters - Highway 61/From a Buick 6

Here's Johnny!

JOHNNY WINTER and DEREK TRUCKS BAND - Highway 61 Revisited (live)

Johnny Winter's cover of  'Highway 61 Revisited'  from the album  'Second Winter (1969)'  usually always appears in lists of the 'Best Dylan Covers' and rightly so too, it is excellent.  However, I have gone for the above live rendition where he plays with the Derek Trucks Band at  the Crossroads Festival 2010. You won't be disappointed with this version also.

JOHNNY WINTER - From a Buick 6 (1973)

The second Johnny cover is  'From a Buick 6' a not too often covered song and rarely played live by Bob himself.  It comes from the album ' Still Alive and Well (1973)' This is great stuff!

Johnny Winter's place in my affections is secure thanks to his production of the final clutch of Muddy Waters albums. Hearing 'Hard Again' in 1977 after seeing a piece about it on OGWT, prompted me to look back and discover the Chess label, Wolf, Willie, Walter, Sonny Boy etc and much more besides.
