WEDNESDAY CLUB - Neil Young - Long May you Run

MIDWEEK CRISIS how do you turn water into gin? Come to WEDNESDAY CLUB, we've got Neil Young, he can't do it but Brian Spencer can.

NEIL YOUNG - Long May You Run(1976)

Who is Brian Spencer? you may ask, well he was a drinking Buddy. One day after work we had a few and the pub closed at three so we went back to my place for some more refreshments and to listen to some sounds. I knew that I had two and a half bottles, one of Gin and one of Whiskey, to compliment the beers we brought back.We finished the booze and I told BS he better go as my wife was returning from work. I quickly filled the empty Gin bottle with water and would replace it later as the gin was my wife's current tipple.

A couple of hours later there was a knock at the door it was BS he had gone to his car and had fallen asleep.

A few weeks later my wife had a visit from her elderly cousin and she offered her a gin and tonic. I had forgotten to replace the in!  Panic! What the hell should I do? With resignation, I decided just to let it happen. They finished the first one and a second was offered. "Oh! you will be getting me tipsy" she said, "don't make it too strong". I sat there trying to supress the a grin on my face.

I don't know how he did it but Brian Spencer had miraculously turned the water in to Gin!

Why Neil Young's 'Long may you Run'? Well for no other reason than I like the song and Brian Spencer, would you believe, was the spitting image of Neil Young.

I should have chosen a track by Placebo.

Oh! by the way the song is about Neil's first car, a 1948 Buick Roadmaster hearse

Fabulous song!! Is it really about his motor?? I guess that would make sense with some of the lyrics, some of which are pretty brutal. More to the point, how the hell did u get away with all that crap you got up to, I'll never know!
