RADIOHEAD - The Tourist (1997)
Living in the U.K. I hated August Bank Holiday, it meant the end of
summer. All you have to look forward to is 6 to 8 months of grey and more grey, no colour, rain, snow, frost on your car, S.A.D., depression. Bloody television starts now with adverts for Christmas. Can we get past Halloween (Trick or Treat) and Guy Fawkes, at least, before Christmas starts.
But here in Spain, I am pleased when August ends. It really is too hot anyway, there are too many tourist, too many holiday makers, the beaches and swimming pools are full of screaming kids, balls, noise, people trying to enjoy themselves.
Don't get me wrong, I love kids, I believe they have to have freedom to express themselves. I understand people are on holiday and need to let of steam.
But not at 3 in the morning please!
My dogs are upset, the parrot does not like it, all these strangers peaking in to upset his peace.
Does he speak? What's his name?
My name is Cashew, now p**s off
You cannot go down town as the traffic is horrendous, all my favourite restaurants are full, even getting a hair cut is a problem, even food shopping becomes a hassle.
But now they are all gone, the weather is a little cooler, still shorts and t-shirts weather for most of the year. You can still dine out side and most of all it is not damp and grey.
Thank God all is back to normal.

Tulis commentsOld Pa, firstly, thanks for reminding me of this song. I forgot how much I loved it!
ReplySecondly - It's raining, getting cold and the leaves are turning brown. You smug git! :-)
I'm a bit selective about Radiohead but, yes, I rather like this - and it absolutely perfectly suits the mood of the day here today, which really feels like the beginning of the descent: it's grey, drizzly, cool, slow and sombre... I'm trying not to feel too depressed!
ReplyLove your caption on the pic :-)
So funny, poor cashew! You should teach him that for sure. I've always loved this song, from my favourite Radiohead album. Hey man, slow down.....
