GUEST SPOT # 53 - Baz Luhrmann - 'Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen'

It's Saturday, it's guest spot day and today we have my work colleague and friend, Reza with tales of debauchery at university, no not really. Incidentally, congratulations to you and yours for the birth of your new baby boy!! Sleep well!

If you would like to contribute a guest spot then email us or click here...Tell us your favourite song, memory or gig, we'd love to hear from you.

Baz Luhrmann - 'Everybody's Free to Wear Sunscreen' (1999)

It was the summer that was....1999. The climax of four years hard study (well almost!) had finally come. Our university days were now coming to a close and we had forged new friendships on a level never really expected before. The uncertainty of what lay ahead in the next few weeks, months, years was frightening.  One thing was obvious, our group was about to be split up, all venturing back across the country. Of course we all said we would remain in touch, but would we really? Then this song was released. It seemed to put everything in context and was like a final lesson releasing us into the real world. Essentially don't take things too seriously. Enjoy life and make the most of every opportunity. It was blue skies thinking and suddenly filled us all with a positive vibe once again!

Dashing! Ladies and gentlemen, Baz Luhrmann !

Cheers Reza, I remember this was a massive hit that summer. All my friends liked it, but it made me a little sad. There's a lot of good advice in there and some positive vibes too though!
