TUESDAY BLUES! The Dears - 'Lost in the plot'

The Dears - Lost in the Plot (2003)

What a tune! The Dears are a band which helped challenge my music snobbery....I always wondered why the singer wanted to sound like Damon Albarn - you're from Montreal man! Then I soon remembered that the majority of British rock bands sound like Americans - so all's fair!  I first heard this song when going to hipster bars in LA, surrounded by 'B' list Hollywood stars and even though I stood out - not in a good way, this was one song that stood out - in a good way. It is so anthemic, orchestral and a musical curry paste of Pulp, The Smiths & Pink Floyd - you should try it, this tastes good!

Curry paste, i like it...but you got it bang on, the delivery is very Morrissey at times, no shame in paying homage to you heros, I say, good track will be a grower.

Nice track, Mr 'when I was going to hipster bars in LA', ooooh. I have never heard of these guys, he does deliver uncannily like Morrissey. Don't see Pink Floyd yet though. Definately will creep up on me this one and wack on the head one day.

New to me. Certainly very Smithsy and I can hear the Blur influence. Rather nice.

I really love this! At least I know if Damon never sings anything again, I can move onto The Dears' stuff! Is it just me, or does the lead singer look a bit like a black Eddie Izzard? On my list to delve deeper!
