ALEX HARVEY BAND - The Wicked Messenger (2003)
Here are two different takes of the Wicked Messenger from John Wesley Harding. The first is from Scotland's finest The 'sesational' Alex Harvey Band and is from an album released in 2003 called Teenage a Go Go.
The second take is from another 'sort' of Scottish bloke and his Faces . It can be found on the album First Step (1970).
Nothing brilliant but workman like and acceptable.

Tulis commentsI'm very fond of a few of Rod's early Dylan covers, this isn't the best, but, as you say, it's ok. The Alex Harvey version was a surprise though. I'd not previously come across the 'Teenage a Go Go' compilation of early material and it's been out for 11 years! Very interesting. I was a big SAHB fan from 1973 to 1976, just before punk came along - Vambo Rools OK!
ReplyDitto what The Swede says. I'm a fan of old Alex but have never heard this before. Dixieland version? What a great idea! Love it. As for The Faces, I've always liked that, too.
