OLD PA'S WEDNESDAY CLUB
LINTON KWESI JOHNSON - Eglan is a Bitch (1980)
I have followed Scotland's World Cup exploits since the fifties and oh! how I have suffered for my trouble.
But have you noticed how recently Englan are morphing into Scotland. They go out very early in all their Tournaments (just Like Scotland did when they qualified). I honestly don't think Eglan will get passed the first hurdle at Brazil. I cannot see them beating Italy or Uruguay in the first rounds.
But unlike many other Scots I will be cheering on Englan and I really do hope they can surprise me and go deep into the Tournament and hopefully beat Germany, preferably on penalties. We can dream.
I am Looking forward to it and I will be shouting!
Come on Englan!

Tulis commentsYou've got it spot on, sir. My predictions:
ReplyEngland 0 Italy 2
England 1 Uruguay 2
England 1 Costa Rica 1
Maybe they'll prove me wrong. There is something rotten at the heart of English football. All hail Linton Kwesi Johnson!
You won't be surprised to hear that I live in a footie free zone. I am, however, always happy to cheer on LKJ!
ReplyDitto The Swede!
ReplyLooks like SB has it almost spot on. It really is painful watching Scotland and I'm in a way thankful that I don't have to go through that with a club team. Too many tears and heroic failures. In fact, it'd say I'm scarred, David Narey in 82 gave me hope only to be trounced 4-1 by Brazil, Scotland needing a draw against Brazil in 90 and conceding a goal with 8 mins left, Gazza at Euro 96. I feel sick writing this.
ReplyBrilliant track of course and yes it's just like watching Scotland without the emotional baggage. A bit like no strings attached sauce. Like I would know what that's like.
